David Thompson - Director

David started his recruitment career in 2012 when he emigrated from Ireland. He joined a boutique Civil Infrastructure recruitment agency in Sydney, cutting his teeth in what was a difficult period in the Australian construction market.

At the time, his focus was on the client side consultancies (civil) as well as cost consultants. Typical positions where he lay focus included Project Managers, Construction Managers and Quantity Surveyors. 

After a successful 18 months, he then joined another boutique agency where he switched his effort to the building services sector. Here he recruited contract and permanent Building Services Engineers and Drafters. Over time his position evolved into a part of the leadership team where he was responsible for commercial facets of the business.   

Since first coming into the industry David has always had a desire to establish his own agency, and in 2017 he partnered with James Loomes to form New Venture Recruitment to offer a more consultative approach that the Sydney and wider Australian construction & engineering sector has been calling out for.  

David’s focus is in the Building Services (Contractors and Consultancy) sector where he recruits:

• Junior to Intermediate level MEP Engineers 
• MEP Drafters - Junior to BIM Manager
